The rapid growth of Social Networking that has been observed over the last five to seven years in indicative of its entry into mainstream culture and its integration into daily lives of many people. In parallel with this, there has also been considerable media coverage of the growth of social networking. It is potential positive outcomes and concern about the way that some people are engaging with it. Social Networking sites offer people new and varied ways to communicate via the internet, whether through their Personal Computer or their Mobile Phone. They allow people to easily and simply create their own online page or profile and to construct and display an online network of contacts, often called ‘Friends’. The meaning of the term ‘Social Network’ can be derived from two words which constitute it. Network generally refers to advertising and the communication of ideas or information through publication/channels. Social implies the interaction of individuals within a group or community. Taken together, social network simply refers to communication/publication platforms which are generated and sustained by the interpersonal interaction of individuals through the specific medium or tools. Some popular social network sites are: Facebook, twitter, world, YouTube, LinkedIn, MySpace, what Sapp, lunar storm and etc.

Enterprise social networking includes the use of in-house intranet software as well as third-party social media platforms like Yammer and Social cast to improve communication and collaboration between employees.
Externally, public social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Google+ can help an organization stay close to their customers and conduct research to improve business processes and operations.
Advantages and Disadvantages of using Social Networking
Too many businesses enter into social media because it's 'the one thing' - they feel they should have a presence purely because their competitors do. There are a number of real benefits to getting involved with social Networking, provided it is properly planned and executed.
