Critical thinking and creativity is important and it also has its benefits. This gives the students the opportunity to explore their own mind. How students think is how they learn. With critical thinking and creativity, it gives us an opened mind. The greatest problem solvers have a clear mind in critical thinking and creativity. That is how it all starts. Amy M. Azzam states, “a creative process may begin with a flash of a new idea or with a hunch. It may just start as noodling around with a problem, getting some fresh ideas along the way” (2009, para.4). They both link together that allows us to become effective learners. I would like to encourage my students to adapt to these two strategies. This type of thinking I want to encourage in my class because it has a role in educational assessment and instruction. David Glenn Hogdon explains, “critical thinking fully employs the imagination to generate a variety of possible avenues for our thinking and our conclusions, evokes emotions held in creative tension with reason, envisages a conclusion (or conclusions) to one 's thought process and the means to reach those conclusions, and allows for creativity during the critical thinking process” (1996, para.3). The main step for my to do is encourage my students to become 21st century problem solvers. My next step is to introduce them to a broad range of thinking tools that will allow them settle and to excel academically. Approaching thinking tools will allow them to develop new knowledge so they can use it outside of the classroom. Critical thinking has a way in empowering students in doing that.
