Communication Competencies in Patient-Centered Care Communication is a method by which information, feelings, and thoughts can express through verbal and non-verbal messages. It is a means to build an interpersonal relationship with people. Effective Communication plays an essential role in all the health care system, particularly in the nursing practice. Interpersonal communication is a process by which people convey any emotions or opinions of theirs to others in either a conscious or unconscious way” (p. 15). In the nursing practice, communication not only involves exchanging of information, but it has a lot to do with the way a nurse interacts with the patient.
