I attended the Bertha Strong Stroke Simulation event on March 1, 2016, at the Arizona State University Downtown Phoenix campus held at the Mercado building. I had attended this event in the past thought it would be interesting to compare my experiences. I was surprised to find that my first comparison would be the registration and receipt of materials needed to prepare for the event.
It may have been due to familiarity with the process, but the current process seemed more coordinated. The registration process was different; it seems as though the old system had some issues as it has been changed slightly. I remember receiving an email at the end of the Fall 2015 semester that asked some students to change times and dates due to overbooking of social workers. Previously, we registered through Google Docs and received confirmation through SignUp Genius. The current process took us straight to SignUp Genius. When registering the student could see how many spots were available to each discipline and allowed for us to see when spots were closed.
There were several materials that needed to be reviewed in preparation for the event. The material included; Interdisciplinary Education Perception Scale, Bertha Strong medical record, blood glucose monitoring, and a stroke simulation video with Bertha Strong and multiple providers of her care.
