And set himself an aim of helping other young carers. At the time I had questions on how it impacted his childhood which I asked he then replied: "It's all I've known, I feel it hasn't affected me negatively."(Commensus, 2017). This contributes to positive social work practice as it helps social workers take others views on so they can then develop the overall relationships with social workers and service users and carers. In this case, they could come away and put more advertisements up in areas that lack it. If service users, carers and social workers work alongside each other instead of against each other they can both give feedback back and forth and work in partnership to form better outcomes for others in similar situations. This will help build up relationships and helps the understanding of both parties. This situation was an impacting one to reflect on as the Congress day was set up to help widen our knowledge and I found it highly beneficial from this specific workshop that 'service users and carers are so diverse and not two are alike.' (Congress day, 2017) This means that a social worker needs to have the skill of adapting to suit the service user and carers needs they are working with. Her son is severely autistic and she has a positive experience with social workers as they helped her when she felt no one else could help her. She felt overly needy but as time went on she built a strong relationship with the social worker and now meets as much as legally required. She says that "my social worker has consistent strong skills such as being open and good communication skills. Helping me develop my knowledge and the help that I can get for my son's autism." (Commensus, 2017). This made me have a positive view of social worker's and service users and carer's relationships. At the time I was thinking how happy I was for the carer and her son for getting the help she needed. The thing I would improve if I went back to this would be to ask the carer how she felt when the "weight was lifted off" her shoulders. '(Commensus, 2017). I'd ask her if she has any breaks to herself and how she finds things to do for herself like hobbies
