The other independent variables include socio-demographic factors, and problems that result from having a stroke. I will be using Chi-square test to analyze the relationship between these categorical variables and the use of home care for participants with a history of stroke. The socio-demographic factors I looked at were age, gender, race (White, African American, Hispanic, or other), and income. I will conduct a statistical analysis using logistic regression to control for these socio-demographic variables, so that they do not affect the relationship between mortality and home care services.
The types of home care services could include: physical therapy, occupational therapy, oxygen therapists, and/or visits from nurses for any medical reason.
