Honor In National Honor Society

The term honor in National Honor Society can be used to describe an individual that shows integrity, equality and respect through their actions. As a student of Beacon high school, I have made many efforts to model my daily actions around exemplifying the student of honor. Through demonstrations of leadership, character, and service, I have shown my qualification to be admitted into the National Honor Society. I exhibit good character to the community by helping to teach younger children during Sunday school at my church. For the past three months I have volunteered in the youth department teaching elementary students ethical lessons, actively shaping their morals. Even though kids can be a handful sometimes, my loyalty to this role allows me to stick around. Also I use this as an opportunity to be a good example to kids by cleaning up after every school session and speaking respectfully to any adults in the room. But more importantly, listening to them and letting them know they are valued. I believe that by continuing this, I can help raise an exceptional generation. …show more content…
In order to raise money for prom this year, I accompanied the class of 2019, for 5.5 hours, to a west point game and worked in concessions. I had a great experience working with my peers to achieve a goal that would benefit the senior class. Recently I have engaged in service with my church, for 4 hours, helping to move furniture while they were switching locations. For my sixty hours of volunteer work I decided to volunteer at a Child Life Center which was in a poverty stricken area in Norfolk, Va. At the child life center my job as a volunteer was to assist the children with their homework, help the staff monitor the children on local field trips, as well as serve as a positive role model for the children. The experience I had at Park Place Child Life Center was one I will honestly never forget. Although I didn’t get any actual counseling experience, I was able to learn the ways that the non-profit organization received their funding, I was able to gain experience in working with the youth, and I was also able to make a positive impact on the lives of children who were considered “at-risk youth”. To go there every day and be able to see the change the children had in their behaviors and how much just some attention and affection from adults impacted their behaviors was honestly amazing.…

For this project, I volunteered at Sacred Heart Community Center serving the poor in the community around me. I packaged food into bags to give out to those who needed it, then sorted clothes onto different racks in order to give out clothes to people who needed them the next day. This would allow them to focus on more important matters, such as paying for other necessities or trying to better their lives, and would help give them the same opportunities afforded to me. I picked this service because it impacted those in communities close to me, and thus I was able to make a change that I could see and feel. Before my service, I was excited to work at Sacred Heart, as I have worked there before and had made many meaningful connections with different people.…
