Statement Of Purpose: The Four Pillars Of National Honor Society

National Honor Society is an organization that recognizes students that have excelled in scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Being a part of National Honor Society is very important to me because it will further strengthen my qualities of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. I also believe National Honor Society will prepare me for college, and live my most productive life. One of the four main pillars of National Honor Society is scholarship. Throughout high school, I have strived to get good grades. I have worked hard to be a straight-A student and I believe that is how in part I represent scholarship. Although I do not receive external rewards, I still work hard every day to maintain my academic success. During my freshman year, I served as class president. During that year, I learned how to be a leader and make decisions based on my entire class. During this time, I helped develop fundraising plans for prom. Being class president taught me how to work with others and make decisions while considering others’ opinions. I also played volleyball my first two years of high school. Volleyball helped me to develop my leadership skills. During practices, I was a leader by helping people better their skills when I see them having a hard time. Volleyball has taught me how to receive and give constructive criticism. It is important to know how to do this because you do not want to put someone down when you are trying to help them, as well as being able to listen to others to help myself. During games, I was a leader because when the team was down I would try to cheer everyone up. To win a game you need to be confident and positive.
