American Dream: Home Sweet Home

Home Sweet Home
The American dream is something most people in America strive for in their life. The American dream often consists of a nice house with a good job and children running around in the front yard. Children are one of the most important aspects about American society. Watching a child grow and learn new is an important part of not just a child’s life, but also the parents too. Homosexual couples should be able to adopt just like heterosexual couples because they have the same rights as all Americans, children need a home, and same-sex couples can also meet adoption agency requirements.
First, human beings have rights especially to pursue happiness. America is a country that was founded on the thought that humans are born with certain

They may believe that a child needs a mom and a dad. That a mom and dad not only play important parental roles but also serve as role models in a child’s eyes. Another issue people bring up is that there will be physiological impacts such as bullying and resentment for children of same sex couples. Children may be bullied and likely will at one time or another resent their parents, but what is most important is for children to have parents who love and care for them, not just the man and woman who conceived them. Also what about the children who have lost a mother or father from death, divorce, or simply because they were not wanted? Should we take them away from the remaining parent because there is not a mom and a dad? Having two dads, two moms, one of each, or just simply one does not affect a child if he/she is being raised by a loving caring parent and not just someone who is just physically there. Bullying is something a child will go through sometime in his or hers life. It is something that cannot be avoided forever. Instead of saying children of same-sex couple will be bullied, how about parents teach their children that it is wrong to bully someone because they are different or vulnerable. Children are not born with the thought that there has to be a mom and a dad. That is something they are taught and learn in their early years. Parent will

I disagree with the authors argument that same sex marriage has a major affect on those who do not grow up with a father. I think it depends on how the couples raises their children, this issue can happen to a heterosexual marriage also. For example, the heterosexual couple gets married and everything is going great for their first year of being together, until they decide to get a child the next year. So The couple is managing to get by and the father gets to a limit were he can’t handle the responsibility of taking care of another human being, so what does he do he leaves the wife and kid, and the mother being the responsible one takes care of the baby by herself. But that does not mean that the adolescent will grow up to be a murderer.…

There are also many children of same sex couples who go on to be psychologically healthy members of society. They are not traumatized by being raised by gay marriage but often end up being upstanding citizens who are more understanding and empathetic than other members of society. It’s also important to note that many children who identify as gay, lesbian or transgender or often physically, verbally or mentally abused by their parents due to their sexual orientation. Is it not better that they are raised in a home that nurtures them rather that a home that abuses them? It’s unreasonable to think that opposing sex couples are better suited to raise…

Children need both their mother and father especially girls during puberty who are more complex than boys. In most cases, children raised without a mother often tend to lack emotional security and advice only a mother can provide, and children especially girls who grow up without their fathers have no respect for authority and often engage in early sexual activity. It is also more than likely to occur that children who are raised in a homosexual environment tend to experience more hardships in life. It is also obvious that no matter how much love someone has for their partner’s children, there will always be a hole in the child’s heart, a hole that can only be filled with the other parent. Allowing same sex marriage is a burden because of the fact that it adds to the divorce rates in the system putting more children in danger of having a single parent.…

Children should grow up with parents of separate genders. Many may think that having separate gender does not have an impact on how your children are raised. However, it is only the beginning of showing them from right and wrong. According to the article “Children Without Mothers Are at Special Risk,” “If a son or daughter who loses a mother never receives adequate substitute mothering, the loss can do long-term damage to his or her self-esteem, ability to relate to other people, overall feelings of security and ability to trust others.”…

In Gay & Lesbian adoption: An Overview it states, “Same-sex couples who are raising children are four times more likely to be raising an adopted child than heterosexual couples with children”. Same-sex couples should be able to adopt because there are multiple children out there that don't have a permanent home. The parents sexual orientation should not matter, it should be depended on who they are as a parent not who they are attracted to. Having homosexual parents make the kids more open minded to new ideas. In the article Advantages of an LGBT Adoptive Family, it states that, “Children that grow up in same-sex households are more sympathetic to differences and more likely to believe in equality for all”.…

Gay marriage is such an arguementive and aggressive topic in today’s society. Even though it is becoming legal many people still have their own opinions on this topic that will not change. In the article I read it talks about children who are adopted into families with homosexual parents. The author is not talking to one particular group of people. He is more or less likely trying to bring attention to all groups of people both young and old.…

They often cite same sex marriages as an encroachment on their religious convictions of what a ‘normal’ family is supposed to look like. What they fail to see, however, is that their values and opinions about same sex marriage should never infringe upon what is an already well- established human right that applies to all people. They must be cognizant to the notion that value opposition does not warrant the refusal of one’s freedom. To withhold one from exercising the right to marry is to violate the most basic of liberties. Further, research tells us time and time again that the best environment to raise a child in is a two-parent household filled with love.…

They could argue that a child shouldn 't be denied a father or mother role in their life but they are being oblivious to the fact that the parent of the child also has a family that may consist of parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles that have kids themselves.
