In the United states society lacks the rights to life, liberty , and pursuit of happiness ; however due to harmful laws that have been gently crafted by. Modern day laws take away our rights by allowing abortions, sentencing prisoners to death, and prohibiting ones purist of happiness over all we no longer posse our rights Abortions are bad because we are taking away a defenseless child's life without his , or her consent even thought they are not considered an American citizen. Every day 125,000 babies are murdered by doctors the very ones that are here to heal us. Tara Culp-Ressler states that 47,000 women die due to unsafe abortions. No matter the type of abortion you are receiving there are heavy consequences laying on your decision. …show more content…
In public schools staff members are not allowed to talk about their religion amongst their students. For this reason a part of our liberty has been taken away by restricting staff members from practicing their religion. In the Trayvon Martin case his liberty was taken away from him because of George Zimmerman wrongly stereotyping him. He was exercising his liberty by wearing a black hoodie with the hood on and he had walked to the corner store. Since George Zimmerman stereotyped him as the " average black male" his life was cut short , and African American boys worry about their fait if they wear the same thing. The pursuit of happiness has not be accomplished either because gay marriage was just ratified October 14, 2014, and while people are now able to pursue any gender that makes them happy. Priest that are strongly opposed to same- sex marriage due to personal beliefs have been avoiding doing the deed. For example in a police report taking place in Galveston, Texas a Christian priest had been arrested because he refused to marry a same- sex couple. The priests end verdict stated that he had violated the fourteenth amendment in the Constitution ,so in the end our pursuit of happiness has not happened at
