As I study and review these two assessment listed models, I am thinking that the questions asked in the model of Hellriegel and Slocum (2003) assessment plan, are more familiar to my experience and responding these questions could have more tangible result about characteristics of an effective and successful team. I have a great experience of working in an active team with the aim of taking care of families and their member’s connections. Our team was made up of youth, mostly 20 to 30 years old and between 15 to 20 group members. One person was elected as a director by the voting system and the group through their weekly meeting tried to improve their around small community’s family’s connection with intelligently regular programs such as awareness …show more content…
Our team knew and believed on the main objective of the group and the team exist. Our goal was about to build an environment based on collaboration and cooperation of all family members, so everyone in a family feels and believe that family environment is the most important part of their life. We had a procedure to make decisions because we knew this first step is very important. Our team realized that we need to create a decision, to clearly define the nature of the decision we must make. Therefore, it is vital to collect some pertinent information before making any decision. The members were communicating freely among themselves. Free discussion can be safe and routine because it is the way groups usually make decisions. Various norms were followed during the group discussion on who should receive the heart transplant. During our discussion our group demonstrated various implicit norms, such as working together as a team, or calling group members by name. Both examples given are healthy norms in group activities that helped us reach our potential goal. Noah in addition to Tania demonstrated numerous positive group norms such as, involving group members in discussion, or giving details about the assignment. However, various explicit norms were shown during the discussion, the given time limit of twenty minutes played a major role in our group.…

Having said that there was also no 'social loafing ' within my team, as Latane et al., 1979 argued was a problem in teams, whereby people were louder individually than they were in groups (chapter 6, pg. 180). The demographic chosen for this counseling group is women, more specifically women who have survived incest. In leading this group, I would screen women ages twenty and older who have survived a traumatic experience with sexual abuse from a family member. Most ideally these potential members will already be involved with individual therapy, and ready to enter a group atmosphere. Due to the nature of the group it is important that members have the ego strength to explore the material discussed, and ready to handle such an intense group.…

Leadership needs to be shared by a group composed of members from each specialty group. The case study explains that interaction and sharing among the team is encouraged but no other information is given about how the disparate special units within the group work together. Rotated leadership is a type of shared leadership that could work especially well with this group (Pearce et al 2014). Consequently, representational leadership from all the subgroups would encourage fairness and transparency and build trust among the specialty groups. Fostering group identity and responsibility for overall performance is essentially.…

It is already proven that the diversity at the workplace contributes to higher results and to a more effective work of the team. The benefits that the more diverse working environment tends to bring are immense, and building a more diverse and inclusive leadership team is an important task. However, accomplishing this task is not a simple process, and there is a range of factors that should be considered while thinking about the creation of a more inclusive environment. Empowerment: Empowerment creates senses of personal competence, personal choice, having impact, value in activity, and security (W&C, 368). A survey was used to assess the levels of empowerment members of the team experienced during team assignments. Members of the team reported an absence of a sense of security almost universally. Three of the prescriptions for empowerment are related to the sense of security: modeling, providing support, and creating confidence (W&C, 373). Since the team did not have an officially designated leader or manager it is logical that team member’s sense of security was low.…

When someone is in the process of making someone else feel better, the giver should also feel better. Basically, while giving, the giver is able to learn something about themselves, while helping others. The lesson learned would be that it is better to give than to receive. Imagine if everyone in the community had this mindset, it would be as if no one was losing anything because someone else would give to them right back what they gave out. With the right mindset and heart of giving back to the community the person giving can receive person growth in their own…

Individual Reflection Paper As humans, it is within our inborn nature to interact and cooperate with others. This is due to the fact that no one individual is perfect and capable in all ways. While working in groups, we will experience changes in group dynamics and processes.…

“As important as the participation of group member is to group synergy, no one wants to encourage participation from members who are obnoxious or bent on sharing misinformation”. (J. Dan Rothwell, pp 276). 3 out of 5 group members were only focused on finishing their portion of the work, which complicated the whole project because it has to be done by the member who proposed the change. Low participation is the problem I felt that we encounter in this group project. I was fully motivated, and willing to spend more time with it; however, not all members were doing effective communications to follow through.…
