Group Communication Tool

Improved Essays
I was assigned group 4 for the group project and I felt like we didn’t work together effectively. We had some trouble meeting up to work and communication. I felt like we could of done better at communicating. In the end, we manage to complete the assignment on time, maybe not our best, but the best we could do with the limited communication, time, and limited resources. I honestly find it hard to analyze our team due to the lack of teamwork that existed within this group but here are a few observations I had within this team. We chose email to be our group communication tool; we emailed each other through the ASU emails that were given to us. Lauren was the first to send a mass email to everyone after the first Discussion board post, …show more content…
This might be the main purpose in this group but I preferred if we had a goal to overachieve. Second characteristics, I want to talk about is participation. The one time we met for the worksheet and the one time we met for the project, the ones present communicated and asked questions. We also actively edited the presentation and asked the other members to check our progress. Due to the fact that Willie wasn’t present the one time we met for the worksheet he was unable to understand the final project assignment and once he joined his participation was slow, and continuously asked what he should do, instead of actively participated. We didn’t have clear roles and work assignments, due to the lack of communication from the beginning, we had a difficult time assigning people roles, we worked on the whole assignment together, and everyone continuously checked. We choose not to have a leader, but I was chosen as the person to do the final edits and turn in the presentation. Lauren and I together found ourselves bring the rest of the teammates together and making decisions, like when to have meetings and where. Unfortunately, it is hard to analyze our group and how functioned, due the fact that it felt like we were barely a group except for the two times we met

In my group I will have Pat Solitano Jr., Tiffany Maxwell, Pat Solitano, Sr., Ronnie and Dolores Solitano. I believe the main presenting problem for this group would be stress. Stress has put some of these individuals into difficult situations causing them to act out and say hurtful words. In this case Pat Jr. will throw fits when he hears his wedding song and gets very upset or stressed whenever anything about his ex-wife Nikki is mentioned. Tiffany lives a very stressful life her husband just passed away and she is known as a whore because she sleeps with many different people.…

First, what worked well was how our group integrated our individual skills together to complete the project. When we introduced ourselves and what our concentrations were, it was easy to determine what roles and responsibilities we would take on. We worked individually on our tasks before meeting together and integrating everything into the final product. The problems that arose primarily concerned communication and scheduling group meetings.…

Group Co-Facilitation Papers Seeing that most of the sessions were running with a sad story, we wanted to come up with something different. Something that will empowered the group members to lift up themselves and have a positive attitude in their life. It was a long journey, each time after our morning class, we tried to figure out what we were going to talk about and finally, one of our teammate came up with “Positive Affirmation.” I told them also about Self-Esteem but they wanted to stick with this topic…

I feel as if the group project could have been done a lot better I felt as there was more of a focus on getting to know one another rather than focusing on the assessment. Currently I am not as confident on working with individuals that I don’t know so well as I was when we first started as I realized not everyone in the group had the same approach towards the task as I did especially in terms of prioritization despite this I believe I am more confident in showing leadership as Staci and Emily had other commitments I attempted to accommodate for this by contacting them and working out times when they were both free I believe this was a positive thing as normally in group assessments I have a tendency to rely on other people to make decisions like this and it was a positive experience delegating rather than receiving tasks. Overall working with Staci and Emily was fine as I have a more passive personality in group assignments it was a good learning experience for me a study has also shown that working as group positively influences and facilitates an exchange of knowledge(Shaw, Mitchell and Del Fabbro, 2015) this definitely occurred during our group work when it came to elaborating on social determinants I was able to help both Staci and Emily better understand them while Staci assisted me in learning about the stream factors overall I believe we compensated very well for each other’s gaps of knowledge . On the other side of the spectrum our fourth member Louis was difficult to work with as he contacted us the weekend before the assignment was actually ready to present and this caused a lot of stress and panic, after talking to Emily and Staci they definitely felt the same way about the situation with…

Regarding the team dynamics, the literature provides proof that our group have shown several positive aspects for producing successful teamwork. Commitment and clear communication have shown to be key in achieving goals. I can personally say teamwork understanding and new set of ideas have been created. One area considered upon reflection is to have allowed my group members more opportunity to express their ideas and opinions. I felt like I suggested ideas quickly, and strong about my opinions.…

Teamwork in this particular task was straightforward and we had no problems in terms of participation and contribution. Having said that there was also no 'social loafing ' within my team, as Latane et al., 1979 argued was a problem in teams, whereby people were louder individually than they were in groups (chapter 6, pg. 180). Rather I felt that everyone had an equal…

On November 9th, Erin and I co-facilitated a group discussion around trauma-informed practice as part of our Group Facilitation assignment as second-year nursing students. The process consisted of choosing a peer-reviewed article related to trauma-informed practice, then creating a Facilitation Plan around the article and relevant course theory, and finally facilitating a group discussion. As the next step towards the development of our group facilitation skills, we were assigned to write a critical reflection about the experience of facilitating a group discussion. Through this paper I provided a summary of our group facilitation experience, explored group dynamics, what I perceived as our strengths and challenges, what I have learned from…

You could say we went through the “forming” and “storming” stages of group work that semester. Second semester, after we had an opportunity to analyze each other’s strengths, we were able to work much more efficiently. We evolved into a united group with common goals, and this evolution is reflected in the deliverables we created in 732 to 752. We learned a lot about the questions to ask when designating roles on a project and paying attention to identify these strengths. We also learned about our own strengths in the process.…

Over the last several years I have had the opportunity to work collaboratively on several group projects. Throughout this I have discovered that open conversation within a group is the most effective way to accomplish a set goal. When the communication dissolves, so does the outcome of the overall project. The majority of group projects that I have partook in are in person groups. However, I have also been part of several online groups.…

Individual Reflection Paper As humans, it is within our inborn nature to interact and cooperate with others. This is due to the fact that no one individual is perfect and capable in all ways. We are able to complement each other’s inadequacy through working as a group, hence this is why collective efforts often made things easier as compared to individual effort. While working in groups, we will experience changes in group dynamics and processes.…
