“Life has no meaning. Each of us has meaning and we bring it to life. It is a waste to be asking the question when you are the answer.” -Joseph Campbell. Happiness is my meaning of life. I am successful in leading a life of happiness throughout my daily experiences. Place to place, how I speak, daily activities, through success and throughout all of time, I try to show my happiness.
Happiness in a place reminds me of my grandmothers’ woods besides her house. The enchanted forest beckons me into its pulsing heart. How could I resist such a lush garden full of memories? The deep, hallways that lead to the mysterious doorways called out to me. The pathways were carved with hours of my childhood. I plunged into the woods that once held playful laughter, which now holds a home for the weeds and rotten logs that barricade the once defined paths. The dawn’s light had not yet reached the lush, green weeds. In the black shadows mushrooms grow on the damp rotten logs. These woods behinds my grandparents’ house are the most influencing and important places of my life. These woods taught me hard work and how to set goals. My cousins have fought loved and laughed in these woods for 9 hours a week for 5 summers straight. Now the sound of silence takes it over, what once I did not like to hear here is now relaxing. Nothing stirred, nothing shone, nothing sang. A hollow echoing, like the hushed tones of a cathedral, entombed the wood. In spots above me the lush leaked light, filtering down…
