Imagine not having to work, no mortgage, no car payments, no hospital bills or even college debt, no paying for anything basically being stress free. How does that make you feel? Happy right? Essentially people think about different objects or activities that make each of them happy. "The ‘‘pursuit of happiness’’ is an American cultural obsession..."(Sheldon & Lyubomirsky ) .Being happy is a state that everyone of us want to be in but no one really knows what makes people genuinely happy. I like to believe that to be truly happy being around family and friends, living with a set of mind to achieve goals experiencing personal freedom and being financially stable.

To have money to spend on the things that you need and still have some left over to be able to buy the things that you want also is a goal all people strive for. When it comes to spending money "...wealth alone doesn’t provide any guarantee of a good life. What matters a lot more than a big income is how people spend it."(Blackman, Andrew) Helping people tends to make people happier than spending money on things they do not need. Letting money get to your head does not lead to happiness it only lets you be happy up to a point and after you reach that threshold it becomes more difficult to become happy. You can only "buy" so much happiness until you are unable to anymore. Having a safety net to fall back is a priority when you have plenty of money coming in. Taking care of the basics before buying in to luxury will you help you in the long run.
Research after research has been done to see what truly makes people happy. There has been lots of opinions or facts backed up by research that supports the things that make people happy but the same things are never agreed on because what makes one person happy might not make the next. Family and friends, living with a set of mind to achieve goals, experiencing personal freedom and being financially stable are the main things that research shows to me is what makes people
