Guns: Creating Violence
In this day and age, there is absolutely no reason for the common man to own a firearm. We are in the 21st century folks, 200 years ago firearms were vital to the survival of humans as protection and a means of food, in some countries they are still needed but not in America. American citizens are far more civilized than they were 200 years ago, We don’t have drifting gun wranglers riding from town to town and we have these cool new things called Super Markets where we can get all the great processed food we could ever dream of. In a recent study done by the Centers for Disease Control, it says that the United States has the highest rate of firearm violence among the Industrialized Nations (Guns and Violence, 2014, Pa:2). This means that U.S has more gun related violence than countries like Hungary, South Korea, Japan, United Kingdom, France, Canada and ext. The fact that we have a higher Gun violence rate then Hungary, Japan and especially Korea should be particularly alarming to everyone and make it obvious that something has got to change. According to the same study, about one hundred thousand Americans are victims of gun violence (Guns and Violence, 2014, Pa:2), that’s allot of people having their lives affected negatively in some way by guns. Another surprising fact is that about thirty thousand people die yearly from gun inflicted wounds and also that in 2010, eleven thousand people were murdered with a firearm (Guns and Violence, 2014, Pa: 2). These people had a life just like you and I, some of them had families, a good jobs, and great friends. A gun selfishly took that away from them.
