Explain Why People Should Not Be Allowed To Have The Right To Bear Arms

More than 10,000 people die every year from gun homicide, and most are from around 15-24 year olds.About 8,512 people have died last year from gun violence. I believe that individuals should not be allowed to have the right to bear arms because in most cases, it does not actually help people, children have easier access to dangerous guns, and having a gun makes the owner living there statistically more dangerous. First of all, many people argue guns are needed for protection purposes, but there are rarely any cases of citizens using guns. According to Carimah Townes, a Criminal Justice Reporter for ThinkProgress,“Between 2007 and 2011, 29,618,300 people experienced a violent crime, but only 235,700 — 0.8 percent — of victims used or threatened

Based on data published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevent (CDC) in 2013 there were over 33,000 deaths by firearms, with the majority of these deaths coming from civilian use. That accounts for more than 17% of all documented injury deaths within the United States. I believe that guns are becoming too heavily relied on as a form of protection. With so much speculation in the media of how much crime takes place today, it seems to me as if civilians are turning to firearms as a means of security. For instance, based on Gallup’s poll on the percentage of U.S. gun owning households there has been a spike of 6% from 2011 to current day.…

About 30,000 people that can't protect themselves are killed every year by guns. There is an argument going on about whether or not to ban guns or keep them legal to buy in the United States. Guns should stay legal to buy, because most guns’ people kill other people with are illegal and bought off the black market. So many people's lives would be changed by this if they made guns illegal to buy. It should stay legal to buy and use guns because most guns found in crime scenes are illegally purchased, most guns are used for self-protection, and a majority of the guns bought are used for hunting.…

Most of our American citizens stand by the constitutional right to bear arms, but I can honestly say I do not do to guns play a huge role in our society crime rate. Many of the guns floating around communities typically are not registered or stolen property. The lax restrictions on gun control is an issue because it allows guns to fall into the wrong citizen's hands such as our youth, convicted felons, and the reckless individuals. These three categories of our society are overflowing our court systems causing neighborhood communities crime rates to skyrocket with armed robberies, homicides and terrorism cases. One of the first reason I will support stricter gun control laws is that our young people can retrieve them too easily…

The thirty-one states that have “shall issue” laws allowing private citizens to carry concealed weapons have, on average, a 24% lower violent crime rate, a 19% lower murder rate, and a 39% lower robbery rate than the states that forbid concealed weapons. In fact, the nine states with the lowest violent crime rates are all right-to-carry states. Remarkably, guns are used for self-defense more than two million times a year, three to five times the estimated number of violent crimes committed with guns. There is simply no correlation between gun control laws and murder or suicide rates across a wide spectrum of nations and cultures. (Lampo 1)…

If guns really kept the United States safe, the U.S would be the safest place in the world. Far from keeping Americans safe, guns are used to kill more than 30,000 Americans each year (Watkins). Many people use guns for self protection, but a household member with a gun is more likely to accidentally shoot himself, than to be used to injure or kill an intruder in their self defense. Although, handgun bans fail to protect people than prevent Americans from using handguns as an effective means of self-defense. Gun’s should be banned, because too many people are getting guns illegally, people use guns to harm and some use guns to protect others, and the Second Amendment only allowed people to have guns when there was a Militia.…

For years now our country has been in a heated debate on the second amendment to the United States Constitution which protects the right of the people to keep and bear arms. Some people feel that it is not safe to let citizens have and carry guns, while others agree it is their right as an American to own a gun. In America, there are approximately 270 million firearms possessed by civilians, and only 897,000 carried by police. Close to 33,000 Americans were victims of gun-related deaths in 2011 and an average of 268 citizens are shot every day. In the past decade our country has witnessed 142 mass school shootings and, in 2010 alone 19,392 people committed suicide with a gun.…

When a law-abiding individual is robbed of his or her right to defend him or herself against an attacker, that person may be a victim to an unnecessary act. A study has shown that 70% of recent mass killings have occurred within educational or commercial environments , areas where firearms are typically banned from use or carry. Such a high proportion should certainly warrant change in these spaces. Opponents to this sort of pro-gun legislation may cite the low number of permit-carrying firearm owners who have actually stopped mass killings; but, if 70% of these killings occur in places where permit-carrying firearm owners cannot bring their weapons, then it makes sense that they would stop a much smaller percentage on a national scale. The armed citizens who would be able to have an effect on stopping violence are simply not afforded the opportunities to act upon their reasoning for the permit’s acquisition: to protect those and those around them.…

Guns should not be banned, because without guns there wouldn’t be any weapon to defend ourselves with in the worst case scenario. Many people believe that guns should be banned and remain banned due to all of the mass shootouts and school shootings that costs the lives of many innocent people. With that being done, it wouldn’t really do much to really prevent shootings because many known criminals to this day would one way or another still be able to get access to a gun which would leave us defenseless when a person tries to shoot at us. Either way it is put, banning guns won’t do any good because as already said above.…

In recent years, a lot of debate had been going on about the laws pertaining to firearms. Unfortunately, with all of the mass shootings and killings being reported by the media, guns are given a bad reputation. Sadly, many people believe that they should be illegal because they are dangerous and can kill people, but what these people don’t realize is making them illegal will do a lot more harm than good. Guns have created a balance in society and if we were to take them away it could cause a lot of chaos which would result in more crime and more casualties. People deserve the right to bear arms because with proper training one could possibly save his/her life and also protect others.…
