Graduation Speech: 3rd Hat Day

Decent Essays
Hello all, As you all probably know, this Friday will be the 3rd Hat Day Friday out of the five that we are hosting. This Friday's theme you have the choice to wear any hat you want! Just remember that it has to be school appropriate. Another reminder to pay a dollar in the office to Mckade Eisentrager, Dylan Schnitker, or possibly Addy Bicknese. One dollar doesn't sound like a lot, but you are still making a difference in the community.

I also want to talk about the class food drive. It started a little of a week ago and almost know one has brought in food for their classes. The class that wins gets to pie a teacher in the face or maybe a different incentive. It's a fundraiser and we hope we get a lot of food and money to help

This week, I interviewed a few students from each grade about who was doing an outstanding job in their class and being a leader. These students are all great examples of what a Van Allen Rocket should be! The sixth grade Student of the Week is Aisha Ahmed from Mr. Hartman’s class. She doesn’t interrupt the teacher when he/ she is talking, she follows directions, she’s been really positive, she respects herself, others, and property, and she does her work and turns in on time.…

The Belles Against Violence Office (BAVO) at Saint Mary’s, with the help of the College’s food services provider Sodexo, demonstrated their support for the nationwide “NO MORE” campaign Monday by providing students with teal-colored doughnuts in the dining hall — teal being the official color of the campaign seeking to end domestic violence and sexual assault. NO MORE was launched in March 2013, and this week is the official “NO MORE week” across the nation. BAVO is showing their support for the cause by using this week to spread the word and raise awareness about the problems of relationship violence. BAVO student advisory committee member Michaela Gaughan said in an email that this week will be an opportunity to get people talking about…

Hi Acuity, I must say, you seem to be into a lot of the same things I am. I too enjoy the TV show Arrested Development and eating human food. I love to talk to other humans and help them with their problems. I tend to do that for free, so I figure I'd be good at doing it for a job. I'm a Marine Corps veteran and a college student who loves learning and getting things done.…

Hi Karrin, Thank you so much for taking the time to speak with me this morning. Not great news and a hard pill to swallow, but none the less a lesson and coach able moment for myself. As stated on our call I fully respect the decision of the team over at the SF Giants and if anything I would like them to know that there was no misrepresentation or additional information on my resume that in fact was not accurate in the moment. At the end of the week last week while I was completing my enrollment for my program/schools I was given the information that credits were or were not transferable.…

We truly appreciate the meaningful work that our teachers do every day, not just during this week where the accomplishments of teachers are celebrated in classrooms all across our district, state and nation. I started wearing baseball caps after I turned 15. I was into martial arts since I was 6 and when I started participating in competitions I used to get hit in the face during fights and end up bruised. I used to feel very uncomfortable in going school among my class fellows after that, one day my father gave me a baseball cap and asked me to wear it to school and assured me that I won’t get noticed that way. I started wearing basecaps and after wearing them I started feeling more confident and good about myself. Although I left the training, but even today when I am not feeling confident about myself, I wear baseball caps with flat brims not just as a fashion item but also due to my personal attachment to them.…

We had lots of support from students, families, and staff. From the elementary and middle school kids, like Jaylee and Natalie Santiago, Mya Burns, Yanira Lugo, Seth Vidal, Brian Lespier, and Jason Gardiner, to the high school students, including seniors like Samantha Rawlings, Savanna and Isaiah Burns, and Evelis Orta,…

To provide something lots of people can relate to, including me, middle school was a great adventure, which happened to have taught us many things. Perseverance, friendships, and lessons learned. These three things popped up over and over again in my head as I was writing this speech.…

Greetings, Class of 2023. Today, we get to celebrate the culmination of our thirteen years of hard work in school with graduation, and I have been asked to deliver this year’s commencement speech. I would like to thank all of the people that have brought us here: family members, teachers, principals, and people who would go out of their way to encourage us to keep trying hard even in the midst of failure. Without you, we would not be standing on this stage today. I would like to start by defining the word “commencement.”…

Graduation was a time to celebrate my achievements, to celebrate growing up and maturing into adulthood, to celebrate my friends and family that guided me along the way, and most importantly to celebrate one chapter coming to an end, and another one just beginning. The night before graduation I could hardly sleep as I knew that my high school career would soon be over. I got up that next morning, took a shower, put my makeup on, straightened my hair, and put my favorite black dress on, only this time I had my chords, cap, and gown to go with it.…
