Graduation Speech: SF Giants

Hi Karrin,

Thank you so much for taking the time to speak with me this morning. Not great news and a hard pill to swallow, but none the less a lesson and coach able moment for myself.

As stated on our call I fully respect the decision of the team over at the SF Giants and if anything I would like them to know that there was no misrepresentation or additional information on my resume that in fact was not accurate in the moment. At the end of the week last week while I was completing my enrollment for my program/schools I was given the information that credits were or were not transferable. So while everything was happening so quickly on both ends I wanted to represent myself in a program and in school of course. As of Monday the 27th I ended up making the decision to go to Univ. Phoenix as that is a program that will honor my credits as well as includes the HR certification. I begin that program tomorrow, everything has moved rather quickly.

Well, Dodger fans, over a week ago we received the worst possible news in the history of all horrible news. Ok, maybe that’s a bit of hyperbole, but it sure feels legit. Clayton Kershaw heading to the 15-Day DL for a mildly herniated disc in his lower back. I know, I know… group hug. He was joined a day or so later by Joc Pederson, who made a spectacular, albeit shoulder crushing catch into the wall, which in turn sent him to the 15-Day DL with a sprained right AC joint.…

My Cross Country/Track coach is one of the best men I know. He not only betters his runners by teaching us, but he also runs with us. Pushing us to greatness with words of encouragement, he implores us to leave all energy on the course/track and teaches us to be exceptional people outside of running. He expresses to us that no matter what we do, he will always be proud of each member of the team; therefore, our actions can’t change his love for us. That’s why it was devastating when he told us before the past track season, that he would not be able to coach for the remainder of the running season from February until we initiated winter conditioning November.…

For those of you who have played baseball or softball. Have you ever gotten a sign from your coach to bunt, but you don’t know how? Well that has happened to me before. I’m going to show you how to bunt effectively in three easy steps that my coach taught me. The steps will be to be in the right position and twist your hips, bunt the ball, and run.…

6 months ago, I never would have imagined I’d be signing with the Assumption Swim Team. hn joined executive Swim Club in sophomore year, I had a conversation with coach Brian Crawford, about possible schools i could swim for. He gave me many great choices, but when he mentioned Assumption, I couldn’t take him seriously. I told him that i wasnt of that caliber of swimming, but he refused to listen. He simply told me to keep up the good work, because it would pay off in the end.…

As a baseball player, I spent countless hours on the field playing and practicing. Baseball is one component which has taught me how to strategize, a positive attitude and a solid foundation in balancing school and sports. It is a lot of fun when you get to play baseball every day for three hours or until the sun goes down. I am sure if you played on a travel softball team you practiced for long hours and played many double headers. I think it is wonderful your dad was your coach so you were able to practice with your team.…

The numbers do not really show the order they will be presented in. They are there just to keep track of how many questions I have. Today I am here with native Sydneysider, Ed Kennedy, to ask a few questions about his journey as the messenger. Ed, now that you know you delivered joy to these people who were lost in their life, what impact does it place on you and others who feel they serve no purpose in life?…

This year has been really special to me because of the amazing opportunity to participate in the Varsity Athletics program. Not only did I receive an overwhelming amount of support and welcoming, but also have learned very valuable lessons from both from my teammates and coaching staff. I’ve better developed many character traits such as honesty and integrity that wouldn’t have been accomplished any other way. These traits are necessary in creating a team bond as it enables the team to support each other even through mistakes, everyone makes them and by realizing these mistakes will only help us develop more positively as individuals it will make it easier then trying to use blame to cover up for these mistakes. This team has also showed me…

Ever since I was a child I have loved baseball. My parents let me play and watch all sports as a child, but I was drawn to baseball for as long as I can remember. I played baseball from the time I was five years old to the time I was fourteen years old, and the only thing that stopped me, was an injury. In eighth grade, I managed to tear the labrum in my left shoulder by diving for a ball and jamming the shoulder while landing. Sadly, I had to switch over to golf, but I have never lost my passion for the game.…

The legends of the New York Yankees, such as Babe Ruth, Lou Gehric and Joe DiMaggio, are too numerous to enumerate. As a recent topic, Derek Jeter has put an end to his brilliant playing days last year and I believe that the number 2 on his back will also be retired number in Major League Baseball in the near future for sure. However, I do not intend to introduce the story of the heroes like them this time because, needless to say over again, their biography have been already well known for many people and I would like for you to re-acknowledge how the Yankees is a special entity rather than other teams not only in the United States but also in the world, so I will introduce stories of two Japanese baseball players; Ichiro and Hideki “Godzilla”…

I was student-coaching a practice the week before the cheerleading teams showcase. My 8th grade athletes that I had coached for a while now were very nervous about the performance. Due to the lack of organization from the head coaches, the most hard working athletes lost faith in their team. Never would I define them as quitters. When they came to me after practice showing me texts of all the girls that wanted to quit, my heart sank.…

I have played football since I was six years old. Football is associated with violence for some, but I look at it as a lesson. Some of the most valuable life lessons that I know and use came from football: from taking pride in what you do to always having room for improvement no matter how good you are. The biggest life lesson that has always stuck with me is overcoming adversity. Out of all my years of playing football, we have never gone undefeated, and I have always faced the adversity of being down in games.…
