What is goal setting? Why is it important? Many people feel as if they are adrift in the world. They work hard, but they do not seem to get anywhere worthwhile. Goal setting is a powerful process for thinking about an ideal future, and for motivating a person to turn his or her vision of this future into reality. Goal setting also comes in process and this process will help determine if a person’s goal is attainable and challenging. In this essay, I will explain how to set goals, why we should set goals, and why we, as humans, should not make excuses to achieve these goals, The process of setting goals helps someone choose where they want to go in life. By knowing precisely what they want to achieve, what they know, and where they have to concentrate their efforts. A person will also be able to quickly spot the distractions that can, so easily, lead someone astray. Goal setting can come in many different forms. One can try to use S.M.A.R.T goals, which stands for Specific(the more specific, the more likely to achieve the goal), Measurable(how long a goal will take to achieve), Attainable(can the goal be achieved?), Realistic(Is a person ready to take on this goal), and Timely(what is the deadline?). Although S.M.A.R.T goals are a great way to set goals, I want to explain another goal setting acronym which is MOTIVATIONAL PE.
