Early Childhood Education: SMART Goals

S.M.A.R.T. Goals One of the best things to follow a successful path is to set goals for yourself. It is important to keep yourself on task, and to get to a desired point of self fulfilment. As once told by an American inspirational and motivational speaker, “You control your future, your destiny. What you think about comes about. By recording your dreams and goals on paper, you set in motion the process of becoming the person you most want to be. Put your future in good hands- your own.” (Mark Victor Hansen) Therefore it is imperative to have a set path on how to achieve important goals. I have chosen one goal that I want to accomplish to demonstrate a process known as SMART, to help accomplish it. That is to become a Kindergarten teacher. The SMART steps to follow are: specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound. SMART goals allow you to track your progress while holding yourself accountable. My goal is undeniably a SMART one. I specifically want to gain a degree in Early Childhood Education, and to be a positive influence on the next generation of young people. To do this, I must first complete my Associate’s Degree. There are classes online that need to be completed to work towards my goal. While hopefully working as a teacher’s assistant or in a day care, I want to further my education. My goal is by the year of 2021 to have my Bachelor’s Degree, and get the proper teaching certification to become a teacher. To achieve my goal, I must set aside times to study, as well as making sure to never miss an assignment that is due each week. Once I complete my classes and graduate I want to make sure that I have the proper study materials to take the teaching certification test. It will be challenging, but it will all be worth it in the
