George W. Bush On The Attack Of A Special Breaking News Press Conference

There are many times when the president has called for a special breaking news press conference and many times it’s because he bared bad news just like president George W. Bush on the Tuesday night of the September 11th attacks when he told the American people. “Today, our fellow citizens, our way of life, our very freedom came under attack in a series of deliberate and deadly terrorist acts.” He then mentioned the nearly 3,000 American lives that were lost because of the pre-meditated attack on the United States. Once the initial shock had faded some Americans’ grief or sadness then quickly turned into anger and a demand for the those responsible be brought to justice quickly. Not soon after we had learned that the extreme Islamic terrorist group Al- Qaeda was responsible and the brains behind it was their leader Osama Bin Laden which then sparked a manhunt that lasted nearly a decade. Fast forward to May 1st 2011 when President Obama held a special press conference alerting the American people justice had been served. He started his speech very straightforward letting the American public know what had just happened, “Tonight, I can report to the American people and to the world that the United States has conducted an operation that killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of al Qaeda, and a terrorist who’s responsible for the murder of thousands of innocent men, women, and children.” (Phillips, Macon).
