Adnan Syed Persuasive Essay

While listening to the Serial Podcasts I heard many different people voicing their opinion on whether Adnan Syed is guilty or innocent. My opinion is that he is an innocent person who was wrongly prosecuted. The whole case is built on a timeline that has many flaws, and they call it a crime of passion or crime of pride. However, they have no evidence of how Adnan might have felt. In addition, they have no physical evidence to pin on Adnan. I think this case was poor executed, and they just arrested Adnan to have a person in custody for the crime. The first thing that swayed my mind to think of Adnan as an innocent person was the fact there was no physical evidence. How can you convict a person if you have absolutely no physical evidence what so ever? Sarah Koenig accepted the help from Deirdre Enright and her two team members. She gave Deirdre the case file, and Deirdre had two team members look the …show more content…
The call logs is what built the prosecutors case against Adnan Syed, and the timeline of that day added to their case. Some of the calls do not line up with the towers and timeline they have. Also, Jay’s interviews are a little different each time, but Jim Trainum said to disregard the little inconsistencies. However, Jay’s first interview has a big difference from the second interview. In his first interview he said he knew that day, January 13, Adnan was going to or did kill Hae Min Lee. On the other hand, in his second interview Jay said he knew at least four days before Hae’s body turned up; Adnan was going to kill Hae. In addition Jay mentions Patapsco Park in his interview with the police, but he never says anything about it during the trial because it messes with the timeline the prosecution has. Another thing they didn’t mention in court was Asia McClain’s alibi for Adnan that day. Had they questioned her further, and brought her up in court, things could have gone differently once again for

Adnan Syed - Guilty Ever since “The Judiciary Act of 1789”, the United States courts system has been accurately convincing some of the most ruthless and dangerous criminals the world has seen. It has been able to accurately distinguish the difference between innocent and guilty and kept lying criminals from escaping unscathed. The case of Adnan Syed is no different, even though Serial a podcast series narrated by Sarah Koenig may suggest differently. It is evident that Adnan is culpable of killing his ex girlfriend Hae Min Lee because his claim of innocence just does not make sense, and the fact he has a reasonable motive makes him very suspicious; that combined with a witness named Jay, who was willing to testify against his good friend…

The call logs did not match the states timeline nor Jay’s perspective on the timeline how he told the story. If the call logs did not match the timeline how was the police to get hard evidence like Hae’s Car. If they dont matter how can they say Adnan is guilty the timeline can prove his innocence because the incoming/outgoing calls on January 13th are nowhere close to the states timeline. Furthermore, how did Jay know where Hae’s car was and not Adnan.…

Since Jay saw the body in the trunk, this is proof that Adnan had murdered Hae. However, this is false since every time Jay was interviewed, his story kept being changed many times. In the podcast Sarah Koenig said, But, of course, two weeks later big swathes of his story have changed.” (Episode 4, pg 67). This quote is showing that Jay is changing his story a couple of times when he is interviewed.…

If all of this is true, then Jay should currently be locked in a jail cell next to Adnan. Yet, Jay got off with absolutely no jail time. After reading and listening to Undisclosed, it is evident that Jay’s word put Adnan where he is today, despite the multiple discrepancies in Jay’s story and demeanor. Author of Serial, Sarah Koenig, “was a newspaper reporter for ten years, covering mostly politics and criminal justice” (Serial).…

You never trust a drug dealer even if you think he is telling the truth because he is involved in illegal activity all the time. As you can see, Jay is not a reliable resource and should not be trusted considering his illegal activities. In brief, Adnan Syed is not guilty because he has an alibi, no motivation for the murder, and the witnesses of the murder are not reliable. Many people have tried to prove Adnan guilty or innocent, but overall there is more proof of him being innocent than there is guilty. Adnan’s murder was either meticulously thought out or it was just a matter of bad luck for Adnan.…

Serial: Final Essay Adnan Syed is not guilty due to the lack of evidence provided to prove that Syed is linked to the murder of eighteen-year-old Hae Min Lee. Jay Wilds, a casual acquaintance of Adnan Syed, reported Syed to the authorities after he helped bury Hae Min Lee and ended up not being punished for being an accomplice. Syed’s alleged motive for the murder is not clear.…

If none of this evidences don't make sense, why is Adnan still in prison? Why doesn't Asia McClain test for an testimony? He stated the situation in great detail without hesitation, "Wilds changed his story during the investigation and trial, and did so again most recently in an interview with the publication the Intercept"(Chaudry 4). This again backup how his story could have been made up, he changed his story every now and then to improve it, to make it sound more believable. Secondly, Jay could have easily blamed the murder on Syed and he could have done the deed instead. Again, the only proof they had about Syed being guilty was Jay's testimony and the cell tower, in an interview with one of Syed's prosecutes, he says, "Wilds' testimony nor the cellphone evidence would have been enough to prove Syed's guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. Remember, Wilds never claimed to have seen Syed kill Lee; he merely claimed to have helped Syed bury Lee's body."…

Trump tried to back himself and reason that there aren’t even any muslim sport heroes and right after he is caught lying. Whether or not he lied on purpose, the fact is that he is so disconnected on how Muslims are just like everyone else, not terrorists as he always describes him.…

Judicial murder made by inequity legal system In the month after “Making a Murderer” premiered on Netflix, more than 129,000 Americans signed a petition to pardon Avery and Dassey for their convictions to the murder of Halbach and in the book ‘in cold blood’ written by Truman Capote, the two murderers were treated by ignoring the mental problem influence of theirs, they stayed in prison for five years and were finally performed death penalty. After reading the book and watching the TV show, I think these crimes sufficiently prove that there is a fundamental inequity at work in countless branches of legal system. Making a Murderer tells a story about the life of Steven Avery, who was convicted of rape in 1985 and imprisoned for 18 years, despite…

It is suspicious, how Jay remembered every detail about that day, he had an alibi with his best friend Jen, the afternoon the crime was committed. He also carefully cleaned up and destroyed all the evidence that connected him with the crime, like his clothes, boots and shovels (Season One). Curiously, the police didn’t see him as a suspect, even though Jen testimony contradicted Jay at the time and location when she supposedly picked him up and helped him get rid of the clothing (Season One). According to the state Adnan Syed was a premeditated and cold blood killer, though if this is true, why he didn’t have an alibi, why he didn’t remember anything about that day. Why he trusted an acquaintance drug supplier about Hae’s murder.…
