In today's society advertisements are always around us, whether it be on a t.v, a billboard, or even a magazine. All ads have a purpose and a message they want to get across to a certain group of people, but how they get that message across differs for every ad. For example, the Nike ad targets athletic young adult to middle age men by appealing to masculinity and competitiveness, while the Reebok ad appeals to young to middle age women by appealing to body image, and comfort. The Nike ad background has an all black background with four vibrant colored lines of pink, blue, yellow, and purple. In the center is a young male who seems to be in the middle of a dead sprint, and he is wearing a bright teal pullover which draws the main focus to him. There are words placed over the picture that say in all capital letters “ONE MORE THING FOR MEN TO RULE.” Below these words is more information on what to do to sign up for what this advertisement is promoting. The main points of this ad targets middle aged men mostly, and focuses mainly on two things. …show more content…
When men pick up this advertisement and read the words “just one more thing for men to rule,” it instantly puts the idea that men are superior and so to feel manly they are going to need to join this product so they can rule over it. Another way this advertisement targets masculinity is the male on the front cover is in perfect physical condition, so when other males look at him it makes them think about their body image and if it poor they may think “If this guy joined and looks like that then all of us should get the same results.” Masculinity is just one of the two ideals this ad targets for
