Firefly Restaurant Case Study Essay

Various techniques have been devised to resolve numerous issues that organization faces during their operations. In this part of case analysis we have chosen some theories that can be used to resolve problems faced by firefly restaurants owners. Taking primary problems as problems that encompass all other small problems faced by firefly restaurants, we are going to suggest solutions for those three primary problems individually.
Solution #1: Improving organizational culture.
The Firefly Inc. has suffered from deterioration of their original organizational culture. They had very good organizational culture before they expanded into two restaurants. As they started to expand, their culture began to erode. A solution for this problem can be changing existing organizational culture.
Changing culture within an organization is a long process. It is difficult to do without facilitating conditions available within organization. Here, we are going to probe whether Firefly Inc. has suitable conditions for cultural change or not. First thing to consider for cultural change is whether there is crisis situation or not? It assures long-term performance of company based upon the strength of the organizational culture. The strength perspective requires organization to have broad set of norms and forcefully implement 1-2 rules. It defends the idea that strong cultures create goal alignment, reduces uncertainty within organization, motivates employee by providing appropriate structure. It is also prophesized to be effective for creating controls needed to improve performance of employees. This theory endorses value of strengthening existing culture.
