The CEO, Martin Thomas, has decided that it is time to change the culture in his business and thought the book “Fish” would be a great starting point. He has asked his key leaders to review the book and implement the fish philosophy within their department and report back in a month regarding progress of this change. The model also provides direction for prepping the audience for the change, support through implementation, and steps for sustaining the change (Spencer, 2005).
Implementing Change
First and the foremost thing that is essential in implementation of any change are having good communication and having a plan around the change which would resemble the following under the ADKAR model:
Awareness:
– Set up time with key leaders to discuss why the change is needed in the organization
– Discuss your insights on the book
– Collaborate with the group how to implement the change
– Discuss a problem statement and define your change management strategy and team
Desire:
– Value add in the adoption of Fish Philosophy
– Obtaining buy in and support
– Understanding roadblocks
– Appointing change management champion o Create sub-group which would aid in the influencing others
