Film Analysis: Dances With Wolves

2) In the movie Dances with Wolves I thought that the cinematography was done very well throughout and that it was a very important aspect to the film’s success. As the movie progresses, beautiful scenery is captured and an old time in our history is portrayed. The reason why this film contains such great cinematography is because it allows us to visualize the story and create a very strong and emotional attachment for the characters. The film also was very successful in using the proper techniques of lighting and camera positions. The importance behind these two are huge because they determine the type of mood in which the film is captured. This is seen many times in the film but the time that stuck out the most to me was how they captured

Australian films: analytical Essay The films that we are using are shine and strictly Ballroom. They are both Australian films. The question that was chosen to relate to the film is 'many Australian films explore the concept of 'overcoming adversity' common to films from many countries but they explore it in a manner unique to Australia and embrace the 'Aussie battler' or 'Aussie hero' icon.' Strictly Ballroom is a 1992 rom-com directed and co-written by Baz Luhrmann and is the first in his red curtain trilogy.…

“Hold fast to dreams, for if dream dies, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly” (Langston Hughes). The film “Of Mice and Men” directed by Gary Sinise is an adaption of the novel with the same name written by John Steinbeck, it depict the icon living conditions and life style of itinerant farm workers in California during the Great Depression. Both the novel and the film develop the themes of “friendship,” “loneliness,” and “loss of dreams” and use the actions of the characters to portray these themes through different methods. First of all, the theme of friendship is developed through the main character of George Milton. In the film, George displays tenderness when he gently cleans the blood from Lennie’s face after Curley attacks…

The dog movie “The Champions” I found to be a touching and profoundly dramatic film about the pit bulls rescued from the brutal fighting ring of former Atlanta Falcon’s star quarterback Michael Vick. It chronicled those brave individuals that risk it all to save them, overcoming much pressure from PETA and the Humane Society to euthanize them. The film successfully exposed the prejudice and much misunderstanding while slowly eradicating the myths surrounding this breed. The documentary unfolds the journey of five of the dogs such as Handsome Dan, Jonny and Little Red to name a few, and their second chance on life and their supreme power of resilience and the true significance of the Human- Animal Bond. It features several rescue organizations such as Best Friends Animal Society of southern Utah, BADRAP centered in Oakland, California and individual families who reached out to these creatures with love and compassion.…

Strictly Ballroom an Australian film finds humour in the exaggeration of Australian culture, this being a Western culture, derived predominantly from Britain but also affected by the unique region of Australia, the influence of the Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and other Oceanian people. I think that to an extent for a film of its time strictly ballroom shows the unique Australian culture and humour including black humour, self mocking and anti-authoritarian. In some cultures finding humour in difficult situations is considered bad taste, but in most cases it is very common in australian culture this is known as black humour. Black humour occurs in strictly ballroom at the beginning when using a mockumentary style setting…

Night of the Living Dead, has cultural aspects popular to its time in the 1960’s; this included racial movement, patriotism and female gender normalities. The main character and hero in this movie was black; it was not common to see at this time. This movie helped recognize the issue of racism in Hollywood films and the change and need for equality. There was also an aspect of patriotism in this movie; by having the directors name above the flag of America. This movie can have been viewed as criticism of the Vietnam war as there were many American soldiers that were lost in the war, just like the innocent lives of the civilians that were taken by the zombies.…

For my independent project, I watched the movie Teenage Wolfpack by George Terssler. This movie is focusing on the teenage rebellion in West Germany during the late 50s. Tressler wants to take a closer look at these teenagers and see why they’re doing all these malicious acts, what’s causing it, and also how much American culture is responsible for these behaviors. Also, this movie has a lot in common with the East Germany movie, Berlin-Ecke Schonhauser and the American movie, The Wild One.…

The film Hearts and Minds is a documentary made by Peter Davis in 1974 to portray America’s unethical involvement in Vietnam and examine the opinions of many by showing interviews and vivid footages. The film focuses more on those who were against the war than those who supported it. For the U.S. all that mattered was the victory. However, those who were opposed to the war felt that there was no right or reasonable justification for their actions. The real issue illustrated by the film was whether the U.S. wanted to protect the country from communism or to manifest its greatest power in the world by winning another war.…
