The rewards serve as motivation and incentive to the employees which help them achieve the company’s goals in a more efficient manner, helping the company move in the strategic direction. The policies defines by the reward system concern with the employee salaries, promotions, bonuses, stock options, profit sharing, vacation, paid time off and so on. The reward systems play a major role for the company to achieve its goals. It also supports the flow of lateral processes. Companies are implementing many new reward systems to attract and retain the employees and keep them motivated throughout. Pay-per-skill salary, team bonuses and gain sharing are all incentives provided by the organizations. Non-monetary rewards like recognition systems and challenging assignments are also important. The Star Model suggests that the reward system must be in line with the structure and the processes so as to positively influence the strategic goals.
