The overall investigative strategy is what your overall plan is. AP is very goal oriented and having that investigative strategy help your team have that goal in their minds and help drive them to meet that goal. This case was in the area that I live and during one of my retail meeting with other asset protection employees the detective at the meeting told us that they had received a tip and had an undercover do a buy. The house that she lived in was worth 700,000 the undercover said that load of clothing in jewelry where in different rooms just piled up. When the lady showed the undercover the merchandise they said that the tags where still on the merchandise when they took the merchandise back to the store the retailer said they had just put this merchandise on the floor. There are many cases like this that detectives see all around the United States. In Cabela’s I dealt with a lot of professional shoplifters I would get my occasional rookie shoplifter but the company mainly wanted us to focus on the professional shoplifters just due to the fact that they could impact you more on your yearly shrink. Being an outdoor store we had expensive merchandise on the sales floor from $800 Garmin GPS’s to $3,000 cross bow just sitting on the sales floor. With having 180,000 square feet to cover in the store it was hard to keep track of all the merchandise. This is why we would mainly focus on are high theft
