Fast Food and Our Society We live in a society today where people would rather destroy their organs by filling them with unhealthy foods than eat healthy and live a long life. People love fast food for the reason that “it’s easy, it’s filling, and it’s convenient and inexpensive” (Schlosser, Americans Are Obsessed with Fast Food: The Dark Side of the All-American Meal). Something as easy, and great as fast food comes with a price. Although fast food is enticing, research has shown that too much fast food can lead to diabetes, cancer, heart attacks, and strokes. HISTORY
Over the last forty years fast food has grown from just a few hot dog and hamburger stands in southern California into a part of everyday life all over the world (Schlosser, Fast Food Nation). The main reason fast food was created was because people wanted to have the luxury of a restaurant and not wait an extended period of time for the food to be prepared. The idea behind fast food is not waiting for your food, so you enter and pick up your prepared food quickly. Fast food was most famously introduced during the early 1900’s.
