Farber and Dumontier had their little Wednesday tradition of meeting up every Wednesday if possible, and have fun. Basically they put on music, have a couple of beers and just paint. Farber and Dumontier’s work has caught my attention because of the simple layout and unique placement of their work. Small 5x5 panels were used to create their paintings in the series called Library (2014). First impression was the minimalism I see in Farber and Dumontier’s painting, no extra brushwork or detail was shown, and the object was put in the centre to create the focus. A lot of the work in the series of Library (2014) reminded me of Andy Warhol’s style, the use of flat colors and no strong brushwork in the background kind of shows the influence from pop art. Also the strong contrast of the background color and the main object painted helps to emphasize the object and leads the audience to the centre of the painting. When looking at Farber and Dumontier’s work, it appeals to me that balance and space are what they really focus on when they create paintings; the balance of the painting makes it very enjoyable, because their painting is so simple and illustrative.

It made the series look repetitive, which causes the audience not to focus on how the book was painted, more of the words that is being put on the objects, might cause the audience to think more the message of the art. Which I never really seen before, to use the color and balance of the object to even let the words stand out more, it is worth trying in the
