Some might think that when you portray yourself in a way that you may not truly feel, it makes you disingenuous. Linda Clemons, body language expert whose clients include the FBI and US customs says “Where body language is concerned, “fake it ‘til you make it” is a very bad plan, Clemons says. No one can practice their way out of their nonverbal “tells” except for psychopaths, whose brains legitimately believe they are telling the truth.” Forbes (2014). Some feel that “faking it till you make it” in a convincing way can only be accomplished by psychopaths, but this is surely only in the most extreme of cases. I have experienced that any form of “power posing” or “faking it till you make it” can be useful.
