Who Is Victor Lustig: Hero Or Fool?

Thousands of imposters have come and gone in this little world of ours. However, only a few were given a title and known for their artistic work of manipulating others. Most imposters impersonated others, tricking their clients into truly believing something completely false. Victor Lustig, born as Robert to the Miller family on January 4, 1890, in present day Czech Republic, is one of the world’s most famous and smoothest con men ever. He was a “gifted student with a seemingly bright future ahead of him” and always wished to become and ‘artist’. (Pizzoli 8). Thus, he used his clever gambling skills, gradually taking impersonation to a highly new artistic and dangerous level.
Despite the fact that Lustig was a clever and gifted student, he decided to go against the wish of his parents and ran away from home at the age of 18, which shows that Lustig was a rebellious child. Not much educated, as he had only finished high school, Lustig went to casinos quite a lot and began to gamble and play poker. He started to play these gambling and poker tricks on many people around him,

However, nothing appeared in the news for very long. Perhaps, Andre Poisson was too embarrassed to report Lustig, only making a fool out of himself for falling in such a ditch. However, this tempted Lustig to return to Paris after a few years and sell the Eiffel Tower once more, which shows that Lustig was doing all of this to be recognized and gain fame. This time he was forced to make a quick getaway as the police were on a lookout for him. Having successfully escaped, Lustig continued his money box scheme which eventually led to him being caught. However, his tricks did not end here. A day before his trial was to be held in New York, Lustig successfully escaped from prison by acting like a window cleaner. He was eventually caught, by being noticed by his scar and sentenced to 20 years in
