Literary Analysis: Empire Of Illusion By Chris Hedgess

The passage “Empire of illusion” by Chris Hedges claims that the most essential skill in political theater and a consumer is artifice. In every position you have to have a responsibility that is to be honest and go by what you think but in theater they want you to artifice narratives. The personal narrative can be fake but what is the meaning or truth behind it? I think they make artifice narratives for their own benefit which may or may not bring consequences further on in the future. This can become a problem to the personal narrative in the form that when they get interviewed on their personal narrative they would not know how to express themselves about it because there is no main intention and can not say what was an actual inspiration they experienced in order to be inspired.Usually the reality of the narrative is irrelevant because of the qualities given in order to achieve a personal narrative for the same fact that they see consequences they may not be wanting to face so they tell narratives to write something that is irrelevant to them.

In addition a personal narrative needs to be written with sincere or honesty. A narrative is based on you and who you are and where you stand which makes sense because it also explains the development of your ideas. In the passage it says it says that political leaders who use tools of a mass propaganda do not need to be honest they only need to have qualities that focus on their personal. Both the author says that that the consistency and emotional appeal of the story are paramount. This can prove that the narrative has to focus to what the qualities given are being expected in the personal narrative. But also gives a point of view between two sides of the story and makes you place yourself on one side without being in the middle. Therefore, this all matter because it is the start of something, something that can be significantly important to the person that wrote the narrative and had to make it artificial because of the qualifies given in order to complete and be eligible to write a personal narrative. The main points that are being talked by the author is making a personal narrative artifice just because the qualifies given require you to not be honest and sincere about the personal narrative being written. The author tells you he wants the person who is writing the personal narrative to be artifice on what they write in the personal narrative. But also says that if you did not master the art of entertainment then it is because you failed to create a narrative. As a person giving their personal opinion can prove a point in which tells Hedges that not all personal narratives have to be artificed. There are other ways to get into writing a personal narrative and being sincere and honest about what you are personally talking about. For example if you know that there is going to be a cause on your personal narrative in the future would you still write a personal narrative that is artifice? It is appealing to me that people who are interested in writing personal narratives have to come to this kind of situation on where an author like Hedges thinks and advises writers to make their narrative
