Microwaves were rare in the Philippines because there’s no use for them since the whole country feels like it’s inside a microwave. Every new gadget was something to explore and tinker with. I still remember being shocked at how there was such a thing as a garage door remote since I thought it had to be attached to wires for it to work. We didn’t use the remote as much as I predicted we would because we didn’t have to drive to school; we got picked up and dropped off by bus. The school was really different and strange because the students have to change classrooms for different classes. It was unlike the Philippines where the students get to stay in one classroom and the teachers move around. I liked the American school way because there was a bigger pool of people to meet rather than just one
