Is Arming Teachers an Ideal Way to Protect Students?
Providing teachers and school staff with weapons is not efficient, instead schools should invest using the money on professional school public safety officials like school resource officers. Teachers will have a significant responsibility when handling the gun, which they should not worry about. Arming teachers and school staff and training them on learning how to handle the gun will not make them qualified to provide safety for a school full of students. This says that schools have more trust in teachers that are newly trained than highly trained police and officers. Police officers train their entire career to be prepared for dangerous situations unlike teachers who came to school to teach.
Arming teachers with guns will cost a lot of money so it can affect the budget of what the schools buy. Guns can cost the school a lot of money by providing many teachers with guns. As with the price of guns, the teachers also need to get training on guns which will cost more. A

Teachers can misuse the weapon and potentially put a students life in danger. Schools should be considering hiring qualified police officers that have been trained to protect people instead of teachers who will have little experience. Students can also get access to the weapons which will be promoting violence. So if these situations happen, arming teachers can be a harmful way to protect a school. Arming teachers is not a suitable way to protect schools because many things can go wrong and students can get hurt. This is important because some schools already armed teachers or is considering to and this could lead to danger for the students. Arming teachers is not the ideal way to keep a school and students safe because it can lead to misuse of the weapons, promote violence, and overall can possibly put the students and school in

This is ridiculous as the United States Legislative Body doesn’t seem to be affected and not being able to resolve this problem. The Legislative Body’s solution is to increase school security by having experienced teachers possess guns during school hours to defend students and themselves. This solution is perceiving as teachers may use the guns to protect themselves but not the students.…

If an emergency happens at the school and a student becomes a threat to others the staff needs something to protect themselves and others against that student. While a simple pair of scissors or other common class item could work as protection, it would be much more reliable if the staff were armed with real defense weapons. One case of when armed teachers could have helped protected teachers and students is during the case of the Sandy Hook school shooting. This event lead to the death of twenty students and six staff members and many schools in Missouri training teachers to carry concealed weapons(huffingtonpost.com) One argument that might be made is instead of protecting the students the teachers might harm them with the firearm, but to buy a gun and to have one on a campus you must go through thorough background checks and multiple tests to see if they are capable of handling a gun.…

Much of the authority over whether to allow guns in schools rests at the state and local levels. In Ohio, school boards are allowed to arm school personnel but are not required to notify the public that they have done so. In some states, teachers and other employees can carry a gun without anyone’s knowledge, including that of school authorities, so long as they hold a valid concealed-carry permit. No one knows how many schools in the United States have armed teachers or staff members. It was a free three day gun class in Rittman k-12 public school employees offers by the Buckeye Firearms.…

Recently people have been talking about arming teachers. People say that this will lead to less school shootings and it might, but there's more to this than people realize and it will be a lot harder said than done. Have you ever thought of the teachers position? How would the teachers feel?…

Specialists have grasped the concept of becoming proactive instead of reactive to situations where lives are at stake. Professionals believe that arming teachers in school districts can help protect children from the up rise of violence in school. Although this idea may be a headed in the right direction, I feel as if there are more effective procedures. Hiring armed security guards removes the cost a school would have to pay to train teachers. This will also eliminate the risk of schools being dropped from their insurance policies or having to pay more as a result of having armed teachers.…

In an age where people are trying to take guns away from law-abiding citizens; we need our guns now more than ever. Everytime there is a mass shooting this debate pops up, yet we continue to have mass shootings. If some teachers were allowed to conceal and carry guns in schools, mass shootings would dwindle. The resource officer at the Parkland shooting never went inside and 17 children died, meanwhile, the resource officer at the Maryland school shooting engaged the shooter and saved countless lives. This illustrates the effects that a capable person with a gun can have on saving the lives of children.…

The fact that the firearms are concealed is crucial. Since the handguns are concealed, a criminal would be unable to detect whether a classroom has armed staff or not (Crime Prevention Research Center). Students who are nervous when seeing firearms wouldn't be scared because the handguns would be hidden. President Trump advises school boards to protect the staff of each district with insurance to reduce the risk of liability, which should put those with concern for the staff at ease (“Arming Teachers and School Staff”).…

Over the past few years there has been an escalation in the use for guns. One reason for why this might be happening is because the guns are being used for mass school shootings, such as: the Sandy Hook shooting, the Parkland shooting, and many others that people don't even know about. This problem has now caused a controversy over whether teachers should carry guns while working in school or not. Many people believe that the only way to defend children during these shootings is if the staff carry guns. Although this idea seems to have many great advantages against shooters, it also opens room for more issues involving the children and the teachers.…

What I think... Teachers should not have guns because what if a kid got caught in a crossfire of the guns. Another reason that teachers should not carry guns is like at a high school kids if they got left in a room Unattended and the teacher the the gun in the desk and the kid knew it and the kid got ahold of the gun. Then that would end in disaster. Another reason that teachers should not have guns is that what if a student had been constantly annoying and being disrespectful and the teacher finally just snapped and shot the kid, that would send the teacher to jail and the kid either to heaven or to the hospital. Another reason that teachers should not have guns is that teachers are there to teach the kids not be a security guards or a babysiter.…

These teachers should go through the most intensive background check because they have the ability to hurt a lot more kids than a random person trying to shoot up a school. If the teachers can get a hold on a gun and then tell the guy with the gun that every class is packed and ready to shoot then I believe the maniac will come to his senses and get out of the school. I feel the same way about guns in the workplace. For example at my mom's shop, she was looking at the cameras and someone was breaking into a truck late at night and instead of my mom having a gun for self-defense at her work place she had to take cover as the robber shot a bullet in her direction. This is why I feel so strongly about gun rights and where you can and can't take them.…
