Shots rang out on a cool April morning. That day fiveteen people lost their lives. No one at the school was armed leaving them helpless to protect themselves from the two gunman. This incident brought the issue of school security to the forefront of students, parents, and teachers. Since that time there have been multiple school shootings, bringing up the question, should teachers be allowed to carry guns? Teachers should be allowed to possess guns during school hours because it would help deter violent behavior among students , it would help prevent school shootings, and it will help save kids lives in case of an attempted shooter or anyone trying to harm kids or the teachers.

First If teachers were to possess guns in the classroom it would deter violent behavior among students. ”In high school the threat of having weapons on school grounds are much higher” ( Edge). This means that there is a greater chance of a student bringing a gun on campus. If the teachers had guns the attacker or student

First of all “Gun-free zones are magnets for murderers”(WalletHub Kiernan). Attackers would more likely to attack schools that didn't have guns rather than a school where teachers and faculty were armed. Second, time for response is an issue. ““Of little known time delays before notifying law enforcement, the average has been six minutes.(Ron Borsch).” If it takes on average 6 minutes for law enforcement to get there the murder or shooting could have already taken place” (WalletHub). If the teachers were armed they could stop the attack before it happens. If they didn't the attack could have already happened. Also people say they would bring a gun to school. “Even among the 36% who say they own a gun, only about one in three would be likely to bring it to school”(Toppo pg.03). If teachers had a gun it could lessen this survey. Leading to the prevention of guns on campus then preventing an

It is fought in both the smallest and largest school districts in many states. Many districts remain opposed to arming teachers because of all the potential issues with having guns within a school. However, history tells us that it’s better to be safe than sorry, and in this case teachers would rather carry a concealed handgun and never use the gun than not have a gun but need one. Teachers and administrators should be allowed to carry guns on school grounds in an effort to help protect our…

Much of the authority over whether to allow guns in schools rests at the state and local levels. In Ohio, school boards are allowed to arm school personnel but are not required to notify the public that they have done so. In some states, teachers and other employees can carry a gun without anyone’s knowledge, including that of school authorities, so long as they hold a valid concealed-carry permit. No one knows how many schools in the United States have armed teachers or staff members. It was a free three day gun class in Rittman k-12 public school employees offers by the Buckeye Firearms.…

Firearms on Campuses Should be allowed Have you ever wondered why so many school shootings happen? Have you ever wondered why nobody has ever really defended themselves from an attack? Well how are you supposed to defend yourself from somebody who has a gun and you are just there defenceless. I think that a way to protect yourself and your students is by allowing teachers and administrators to have firearms on campuses. The firearms on campus are an intimidation factor to anybody who has the idea to do things such as shooting up a school.…

Tragedies that take place on school grounds send shockwaves through communities. This brings up the argument of whether or not teachers should be allowed to carry a firearm. This topic appeals to me, not because I am a huge advocate for guns, but because safety on school grounds should be of the utmost importance. Ultimately, teachers who elect to carry a firearm on school grounds would have to pass extensive background checks and training. Provisions and policies would have to be set in place to make sure students would have zero access to the firearm and that it be locked away securely.…

There are a lot of concerns and questions that others are wanting to know since the latest school shooting in Parkland, Florida. Because of this horrific tragedy the President of these United Sates is trying to propose a law for the people. He is trying to get the Senate to agree that teacher’s should be allowed to bring armed weapons while teaching students. I believe that teacher should not be allowed to carry armed in the school system.…

Imagine the idea of being defenseless against an attacker trying to wreck havoc on your teachers and fellow classmates. The worst feeling in the world is when you are helpless, and there is nothing you can do during a situation. Not allowing our teachers to carry a weapon while on school grounds is a great way to achieve this helpless feeling. Since 2013, there have been over two hundred school shootings in America- an average of nearly one a week. Between 2013 and 2015 an average of two shootings on K-12 schools took place per month.…

Many teachers and administrators are unsure about how pupils may handle altercations and stressors of everyday campus life with the easy access of guns and worry that talking to students about their schoolwork and grades can cause retaliation. Another problem they face is how much it will cost and what it will take to beef up security on campuses. Firearms should not be…

There is a lot of cost that would go into this. For example the state has to pay for the gun and ammo. Where does this money come from are people willing to pay more taxes. Also if a teacher got a gun what is stopping them from shooting kids most kids do not think it would make them feel safe. Also teachers are not in their mind to shoot a student they are trained and are in the mentality to care and nurture students not put a hole in them.…

What I think... Teachers should not have guns because what if a kid got caught in a crossfire of the guns. Another reason that teachers should not carry guns is like at a high school kids if they got left in a room Unattended and the teacher the the gun in the desk and the kid knew it and the kid got ahold of the gun. Then that would end in disaster. Another reason that teachers should not have guns is that what if a student had been constantly annoying and being disrespectful and the teacher finally just snapped and shot the kid, that would send the teacher to jail and the kid either to heaven or to the hospital. Another reason that teachers should not have guns is that teachers are there to teach the kids not be a security guards or a babysiter.…

Fired Up on Campus Three out of every four americans support ¨laws allowing law-abiding citizens to get a permit to carry a concealed weapon¨ (¨Should Adults Have the Right to Carry a Concealed Handgun?¨). With this in mind, we should allow Licensed Concealed Carry of firearms on public universities because it improves the reliability of security guards, protects the staff, and reduces the likelihood of school shootings. In the first place, guards need to be equipped with firearms in order to protect to their fullest potential. Security policemen prefer to be armed for campus…

Specialists have grasped the concept of becoming proactive instead of reactive to situations where lives are at stake. Professionals believe that arming teachers in school districts can help protect children from the up rise of violence in school. Although this idea may be a headed in the right direction, I feel as if there are more effective procedures. Hiring armed security guards removes the cost a school would have to pay to train teachers. This will also eliminate the risk of schools being dropped from their insurance policies or having to pay more as a result of having armed teachers.…

These teachers should go through the most intensive background check because they have the ability to hurt a lot more kids than a random person trying to shoot up a school. If the teachers can get a hold on a gun and then tell the guy with the gun that every class is packed and ready to shoot then I believe the maniac will come to his senses and get out of the school. I feel the same way about guns in the workplace. For example at my mom's shop, she was looking at the cameras and someone was breaking into a truck late at night and instead of my mom having a gun for self-defense at her work place she had to take cover as the robber shot a bullet in her direction. This is why I feel so strongly about gun rights and where you can and can't take them.…
