Effective Decision-Making Process Analysis

The decision making process is considered to be one of the fundamental aspects of project execution taken as a whole. One of the major characteristics of effective decision making within any project team is that "the process focuses on goals to be served by that decision" (Sheen, 2014, 00:18). Moreover, the decision making should be based on relevant information and data to be rational and accurate. To be realistic, the process also has to take into consideration different perspectives and points of view presented in the course of discussion on a decision. An effective decision making is also associated with thorough risk assessment, provides for a just and fair process, and takes place in a respectful working environment. According to Sheen (2014), "different decision making processes have various levels of project team engagement and time requirement" (01:16). These aspects depend on the complexity and urgency of a particular decision. Another major reason for the ineffective decision is associated with massive amounts of projects requiring decisions.
