According to “Decision Making Tools, (n.d.)”, there are six steps in total. They are as follows. First, the problem is identified, essentially the task is assigned. Second, the best decision style for the problem at hand is identified. Third, alternative decisions are developed and analyzed (Heracleous, 1994). This is based on the criteria set for the particular situation. Fourth, the best solution is chosen after comparing alternatives identified and verifying the information presented. Fifth, the solution or proposed answer to the problem is implemented. Finally, decision outcomes are evaluated for appropriateness and effectiveness. This is essentially identical to examining the final decision, as eluded to by Wang …show more content…
According to “Decision Making Techniques (n.d.)” the creative decision making process has the advantage of offering solutions to problems that may be a bit unclear. However, the attribute that makes this an appropriate possible method for the particular problem posed previously is the fact that it offers opportunities for new solutions to problems to be generated. In particular, it allows for unlimited creative potential and innovation in the problem solving process, as compared to the rational decision making process. Similar to the rational decision making process, information must be gathered and analyzed, as has been done regarding expansion of the ED, as discussed in detail previously. Unlike the rational making decision process however, this particular model provides an illumination phase, wherein the leader gains insight to address this problem. Regarding the ED, my insight was not necessarily gained spontaneously, but more so in a combination between experience and aforementioned knowledge acquired by years of experience in this area, coupled with spontaneous incidents that transpired while working in the
