I believe that the all four pillars of the National Honor Society; Academic, Character, Leadership, and Service are all very important in today’s society. The first pillar Service is where students offer their time to the school or local community with out any compensation, and that is important to our society because it shows how involved, and dedicated, students are; how they are desired to work with the school and the community without getting rewarded or recognition of any kind. The Leadership pillar which is where one demonstrates leadership within the school community it’s key to society due to the fact that it will show that you, inspire others, contribute ides, that you are responsible, self- confident, and have the ability to act…

For the 2017-2018 chapter of the National Honor Society, I would like to become the Parliamentarian of the group. Because I am the kind of individual who is quite fond of order and organization, I would be pleased with a position which enables me to maintain the lawfulness of the society when needed. In order to ensure that all members, including the officers, of the National Honor Society are following directions, I will practice peaceful methods of discipline. It is often challenging for a Parliamentarian to implement the rules in a manner that satisfies the majority of people. My goal as the Parliamentarian would be to adopt tactics of correctness that will seem kind to others but will not lose their effectiveness.…

Not only do all members of National Honor Society practice healthy academic careers, share a commitment to servicing our community, and demonstrate effective leadership, they also showcase exemplary characters that are observed by their advisors and peers. Despite contrary belief, character is not only defined by who you are when no one is watching; it is who you are at all times. You present your character when you are when you are alone in a room, in a busy crowd, with your teammates on the field, and sitting down at dinner with your family. Civic Education As we advanced into the modern day society with its technological advancements, many high schools have withdrawn from teaching civic courses in classrooms. This was caused by the differing views on politics and many controversial issues related to it. However, with the descending numbers in voter turnout each year and the controversy surrounding the 2016 presidential election, many want to bring civic education back into the spotlight. Although many experts do agree that bringing civic education is crucial to the future of our government and citizens, they have distinctive plans as to how we should implement civic education in high schools. Students are not being properly educated to become good citizens because students who belong to a minority group are not provided with the same level of civic education, civic education is not prioritized in schools and students are not getting the opportunity to have first-hand experience in civic learning practices.…
