I knew she was trying to get me to say I do not like it there so she could let me go right there. I told her I love it there and love the kids love my job and sorry she got the wrong ideas I was so excited about the class I was discussing it with my co-worker and she said well she was offended do not do that again. I had to sign the write up for insubordination. She wanted to know the name of the book and what university I was taking the class. I have a better understanding now of the microaggressions that can happen in the world. I watch what I say so I do not offend anyone. I have learned to know I want to know more about how to handle microaggressions against me as an individual and stand up for children so they do not experience those microaggressions. I tried to explain myself, but she started to cuss while flailing her arms in the air. I felt like I wanted to crawl in a hole, super embarrassed. Diversity is a key element for a proper learning environment; students must be amongst people of other backgrounds to be exposed to the variation in the real world. In the scientific community, collaboration with others is necessary, and often, they come from an alternate way of life. Working with someone who may be different in many ways has numerous benefits; they may be able to propose ideas that you had not previously considered, or they could inform you of something that has the potential to assist you later in life. Living in a diverse setting not only an educational benefit, but it also aids in the preparation for the real world. A blank can be defined in various ways. It can be defined as a situation, belief, or idea that reduces people to nothing more than inferior objects. I have been a blank space only a few times in my life. All of these experiences resulted in personal growth and maturity .Similar to the perceptions of condescending individuals who deemed minorities of African descent as inferior in Heart of Darkness and The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. At Camp A, I was reduced from an individual to a caricature of an African American with amoral values because of faulty reasoning and stereotypes.…

I want to write about the experiences that I encountered after attending Carl Junction schools, and the impact and difference it made on my life. People think all schools are the same, that it is school, there’s kids and there’s teachers, you go and sit for 8 hours and you get marked as ‘present’ regardless if you’re learning or not, and if you’re present and you don’t fail, then you go on to the next grade. But I realized something different, when things got switched up for me. I attended Carl Junction schools from 1st grade to the very end of 6th grade, and then I started Joplin in the 7th grade, not knowing anyone from this school, or really this area. When I started school at Joplin I was so nervous, I was nervous about the normal stuff, that no one would like me, I would sit by myself, or people would be mean to me.…

I believe that AT&T should mandate a diversity policy because it will be able to make sure that there is respect between employees, employers and even coworkers. I believe that they should mandate a diversity policy because it means that the employees, employers and coworkers would respect one another nonmatter their religious views, gender, sexual orientation, race and color. I believe that even though Albert Buonanno an AT&T employee believes that his religious beliefs keep him from signing the current diversity policy I believe that he still would need to sign a diversity policy. I believe this because even though his and many other people’s “religious beliefs prohibit him from approving, endorsing, or esteeming behavior or values that are repudiated by Scripture.” (Buonanno v. AT&T Broadband)…

She continued cursing, not at me but my father. When I was done bagging her items she started telling me how I am really good at my job and was trying to belittle my dad by comparing me to him, I smiled and right before she was about to leave I said “Thanks, but the reason why I am so good at my job is because of the man you disrespected for a good 20 minutes, my dad, who has taught me everything, but have a great day, see you again.” She slid in a few more swear words, directed at me this time and left. That was one of the first times I had seen what happens to people of color or a minority group, and it happened to my father almost daily and he has become immune to it, but since that day I have been traumatized by how low people can stoop to belittle people of different views and beliefs. Also since that day I realized how much racial discrimination can hurt and affect someone, similar to in the story how the all the races hated each other, also just…

Diversity is defined as variety, especially the inclusion of people of different race or culture, which happens to be the focus of most diversity initiatives. Diversity in the workplace began in the United States after the passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Act when the US American industry began to see new categories of workers such as women and those with disabilities. In today’s world, the United States is considered a “melting pot” of ethnic cultures. Due to globalization, diversity has become a huge part of the workplace and therefore it is important for organizations to focus on trying to find ways to deal with having a diverse workforce. As quoted in the article Reflections on Diversity and Organizational development “diversity is an essential…
