Improved Essays
The National Honor Society is based on four pillars, which are, Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. In some ways, I have already shown three of these pillars in my first two years of high school. However, there are several other ways in which I plan to lead my school, serve my community, and build my character, during my final years of high school.
As I have mentioned, there are some ways that I have already shown leadership, service, and built my character during my first two years at Parkway South. For the past two years, I have played field hockey for the Patriots. Field hockey has built my character by teaching me the importance of teamwork and collaboration. Additionally, last year, I was chosen as the team captain which strengthened my leadership skills. One way I plan to demonstrate leadership and service is through volunteering to be a sixth grade camp counselor. Counseling middle schoolers would not only improve my responsibility, but it would also be another way that I plan to serve my community and demonstrate leadership. Another way I plan to build character and lead is to join Link Crew during my junior and senior years. I remember my Link Crew leaders during my freshman year and they were very helpful and informative. I also hope to be same positive role model for incoming freshman who are nervous or have questions. Through work such as being a sixth grade camp counselor and a Link Crew leader, I plan to lead younger students and be an influential role model. I plan to lead my school and community to ensure that the future generations of Parkway South students are well-prepared and kind. Lastly, through this work, I plan to build my own character and make myself a better

Growing up, leadership has always played a huge role in my life. It has helped me grow as a person and allowed me to learn new skills. In middle school, I enjoyed working with my peers to organize events and help others. For example, as a member of my school’s choir, I took the opportunity to help organize concerts, design brochures and make posters to inform the school community about upcoming concerts and events. In addition, I took part in the fundraiser to help raise money for our music department at Carson.…

Service and Leadership Service and leadership! Even though they are two different things they both do correlate well with each other. For example, most of the time when you lead you are serving others whether it be big or small you still are offering some type of service. I have endeavored to impact people 's lives, either by helping them through a struggle, impacting a community of students, or just simply listening more than talking. With each life experience, we grow more responsible as we are faced with new challenges as an individual, a member of a student body, a community or a nation. We, as leaders, must be willing to take on these trials and support others through their trying times. At Junipero Serra High School, I have become a leader, a caretaker and most of all a friend to anyone who needs one.…

During my senior year, I was the captain of the football team, and I had to show leadership. I showed leadership as a captain because I encouraged my teammates to get involved in preseason training and I also made sure they went to practice everyday. I was always willing to help teammates, whether it be to work on plays, or to help them on their form in the weight room.
