What are human beings? What is our purpose in life? These are some of the questions that come to our minds as human beings. How do we begin to understand these thoughts? As self-conscience individuals, we turn to philosophy to help comprehend these questions. One may ask themselves what is philosophy? Three words to sum up philosophy, Love of Wisdom. Philosophy takes our curious minds to answer abstract questions. Philosophy can not only play a role in school, but it can also benefit lives of those who take a course of the long journey of philosophy. It can help expand our way of thinking about our surroundings and life itself.
One of the many qualities Philosophy offers us to help understand the world around us is Critical Thinking. Critical thinking is the ability to think clearly and rationally about a situation or any given statement. Critical thinking involves Metacognition. Metacognition means, thinking about thinking. This concept is essential to think about topics that people do not always think about. It is also important to dissect the topic and break down it to smaller structures. By breaking down a topic we can understand the sub components that build an issue.
In order to understand critical thinking, we must also know about knowledge. Knowledge presents us with task of explaining how we know what we claim to know, how we can find out what we wish to know and also how to judge someone else 's claim to know ( ......).
