We as human beings have the tendency to be the best at what we do. We all share the characteristics or the competencies which enable us the ability to prosper in our environment. What differs is the level of sophistication we possess with each competency. Critical thinking is one of the key competencies we must all have in our arsenal of knowledge and abilities. When you are a critical thinker there is no need to have in-depth knowledge about one topic. By just having a miniscule amount of knowledge concerning several topics your mind could map out all those ideas to create an understanding for yourself, one that most likely only you would understand at first. Critical thinking is essential in a work environment. For example, in the medical field many times doctors must step out of …show more content…
At that point, you could remember an article you read a couple months back about how eating too many strawberries causes clots in the lower extremities and there a light bulb lights up in your head and using critical thinking you conclude that those blood clots could cause paralysis. By just reading an entertaining article during your lunch break a couple months back you were able to save a kids life and reverse the paralysis and help the patient get better. That is an amazing example of how critical thinking works and helps workers in their work environment. Academically, critical thinking is essential. No matter what subject, whether its Math, English or Science, critical thinking is used to find the answer to problems. For example, in math most of the times we try to imagine a situation and the numbers being used to understand the problem. There are many things I could say about critical thinking and I could go on and on. Without critical thinking, it is in my belief we would not have the answers to many of today's
