For me, in the Army, it critical to be able to think critically. There are times where you must make very logical and accurate decisions very quickly. There are also times where you must use your experience and expertise to make informed decisions. You are entrusted to be a Leader of Soldiers, to train, lead, and mentor them. To me, it’s like baking desserts. It is something I love to do, and all my friends and family enjoy it very much, but there is a lot I don’t know how to do. There are a few desserts that I know how to make very well and can probably even make them with out even looking at a recipe, while others are just ideas or recipes I follow, but still turn out amazing. Although I can’t make everything I would like to, I have the fundamentals down that enable me to continue creating more and more desserts from beginner to advanced. This is a skill that I can constantly improve upon with constant practice and training. This is the same with critical thinking. It is a skill that you can only improve upon through constant practice and training. As long as you have the fundamentals down, the ground work is already in place for you to keep building on. I can honestly say I have never really looked at Critical Thinking the way I see it now. Weak critical thinkers lack the ability to look at things from different points of view being true or not true. Strong critical thinkers have the ability to see things, and question every angle of their way of thinking, and come up with a theory or realistic view or stand point on that topic or discussion. The quality of critical thinking, I feel I am a strong critical thinking! My best quality is Intellectual courage: the willingness to face and fairly assess ideas, beliefs, or viewpoints to which they have not given a serious hearing, regardless of one's strong negative reactions to them.…
