I chose nursing as my profession because, I believe that we all have a purpose in life, and my purpose is having the desire to help others through care and healing. I first became interested in nursing when I was in high school; during this time when I became intrigued was when my grandmother was placed in a nursing home. When my family and I would go visit her, I would watch how she was being cared for. The nurses would make her smile even in her worst days. It takes a lot of work to become a nurse. You are dealing with the mind, body, and spiritual aspects of a person. Research is essential in nursing because you are looking into the cause to why the person is in your care. Researching helps to gain the information needed in properly caring for a person, and making sure they are going in the right direction to the road to recovery. Which goes hand in hand with evidence based care. I believe it is very important to have critical thinking skills. Your ability to make quick and efficient decisions under pressure during a stressful situation is essential in a life or death matter. Reading, writing, and speaking critically also define critical thinking. I consider myself a good critical thinker, but I hope to gain more skills and confidence in this area if a situation arises, especially when managing patient
