Critical thinking, active reading, and effective writing are skills that we all need in everyday life and in our workforce no matter what it may be. It does not matter what our occupation is or level of education may be those three things will all come into play in our lives at some time. How and why we use them may be different from how the next person may use it. How I think through a problem will be different from the person sitting next to me. Just because we think different from each other does not mean either one is wrong. In my career choice of one day, owning my own business critical thinking, active reading and effective writing will all be very important. I will discuss the meaning of each skill, the benefit, and challenges that I will face and how I can apply each in my career path.

Michael Scriven and Richard Paul (1992) gave a statement of what they thought critical thinking is and they said:
Critical thinking is the intellectually disciplined process of actively and skillfully

Come up with a list of possible things that could be changed to fix the issue at hand. When someone uses their critical thinking skills they do not allow emotions to take over to help them reach an outcome, they use their judgement and analyzing skills during situations.
