Covenant between God and Israel The covenants were made between God and Israel in the past ages when other prophets tried for the betterment of the people of this nation. Those covenants were not as obeyed as they were expected to be. The Israelis remained disobedient towards those covenants and the people of Jerusalem were not able to act according to the will of God. The prophets before Jesus were saved due to their faith and the people were called sinners by law at that time. But God sent many prophets so that the nation will come to the righteous path after all. Like the sins who were punishable before were still punishable but the false sacrifices for example when it was said to sacrifice the firstborn of the family and for the cattle (Exodus 22:29-30), this was no more valid. So the new covenant was closer to the humanity than the last ones and it was made by Jesus. But the people of Jerusalem took it the wrong way that the body of Jesus was the covenant and it was the way of absolution of their sins from God. Some of the laws were added in the covenant by Jesus and some were declared obsolete which were enforced before. These people planned the whole thing and then it was made to the knowledge of the Roman Judea that Jesus is claiming to be “the king of Jews” and this was the thing that annoyed him and they started to plan what to do next against him. The way in which Jesus was tortured and crucified is totally against his preaching because he always gave the message of love and always wanted the betterment of the Israelites. The news spread and a trial was held for him and the Roman Judea gave him death penalty. He had realized at that time that he couldn’t go away from that He was agonized in the garden for three hours and it was not witnessed by a lot of people but it has been mentioned in the gospels that came afterwards. He was tortured and mocked by the temple servants and he was hurt with sharp blows and there was a crown of thorns on his head. This was done by the roman ruler, so that the Jews will be satisfied by seeing him in such pain. He suffered all of this because he was a prophet of God and a true believer who was not afraid of these worldly punishments, and he knew that all is done by the will of God
