Contingent Rewards In Leadership Analysis

Module 6 was focused on leadership and followership; however, I think being a transactional leader using contingent reward is my biggest take away. Contingent reward is most important to me because I can set goals for someone and if they meet those goals I can give them a set reward. This might not be other leaders’ specific style, but I find it more effective to let people work for the things they want. The reward doesn’t have to be huge and can be something as simple as time off, an award, or maybe saying “you rocked it, way to go.” If I fail to use the concept of contingent reward, my subordinate might not think she is doing as well as expected, she may not receive awards and may not continue to strive to be her best all the time.
