It gives the picture of students sitting passively in a class like empty vessels waiting to be filled by the teachers’ knowledge. Constructivism learning encourages students to develop their own style of learning and the teacher acts like the guide on their side. It gives the student more room to explore, discover and accumulate their learning and findings on a subject matter. In a traditional classroom learning environment there is little scope provided for students questions and opinions while the constructivism learning values the students interest and values because it promotes social discussions, hands-on activities and interactions. While the traditional learning environment is based upon repetitious information and memorization, constructivism builds upon and adds to whatever knowledge the student has accumulated therefore creating a wider platform for more extensive learning to occur. Traditional classroom mostly requires students to work individually while the constructivism learning promotes group work and peer learning.
