Our future is the students of today. Each and every student has the potential to set high standards and strive for even higher goals through education. Teaching is a meaningful and respectful career that requires commitment. A SPED teacher takes an extraordinary individual that truly is dedicated to each different personality and wholeheartedly strives to teach each one of them. A teacher has the opportunity to impact a student's’ life in a positive way; this is a huge privilege that shouldn’t be taken lightly.
I personally have witnessed first hand the willingness and eager faces of SPED children that are taught with a firm but gently hand. These children have a rough enough life and sometimes only need the attention the so desperately seek. In addition to the ability of all students to learn, expect all students to learn, and convey this expectation to individuals, in the class and the community. I will provide a classroom that is welcoming positive and a fair environment for all students learn from one another and feel safe and comfortable to share their thoughts and ideas.
I will also embrace the constructivist learning approach which will include the acknowledgement that individual learning outcomes may be different but that my students are actively engaging in learning experiences which allow them to be individuals in and out of the classroom. I believe that it is important to be able to provide each student specific and meaningful positive feedback and encouragement so that they are able to build up their confidence and develop intrinsic
